Overview
Yeastie Boys is committed to maintaining transparent and compliant communication practices in accordance with industry standards and mobile carrier regulations. This policy outlines how SMS (text messaging) is used internally at Yeastie Boys, including details on consent collection, message types, recipient eligibility, opt-out procedures, and data privacy protocols.
1. Scope of SMS Communications
Yeastie Boys utilizes SMS strictly for operational communication with internal team members, including but not limited to:
-
Bakers
-
Delivery drivers
-
Operations and logistics coordinators
-
Location managers
-
Support staff working in shift-based or remote roles
All messages are sent exclusively to company-issued mobile devices that are provided to employees as part of their role. Messages are never sent to customers, clients, or members of the public.
2. Purpose and Content of Messages
SMS is used to communicate non-commercial, non-promotional, and time-sensitive information. Examples of message content include:
-
Daily bagel production summaries organized by location, quantity, and variety
-
Shift confirmations, schedule adjustments, or location assignments
-
Delivery instructions and routing changes
-
Urgent inventory updates, safety alerts, or staffing notices
These messages are short, actionable, and directly related to job responsibilities. Yeastie Boys does not send marketing, advertising, or promotional content via SMS under this policy.
3. Opt-In Consent Workflow
3.1 Verbal Consent During Onboarding
All employees are informed of the SMS communication policy during onboarding, either in-person or virtually, led by a manager or operations team member.
At that time, the following consent statement is shared:
“As part of your role at Yeastie Boys, you will receive important operational updates via text message to your company-issued phone. These messages may include shift start times, order details, or urgent logistics changes. You will not receive promotional or marketing texts. By acknowledging this verbally, you agree to receive SMS messages as part of your job responsibilities.”
This verbal consent is documented and retained within the employee’s onboarding record in our internal HR system.
3.2 No Use of Personal Devices
Yeastie Boys does not require or encourage the use of personal devices for SMS communications. All messages are sent to phones that are owned or managed by the company.
3.3 Consent as a Condition of Employment
SMS communication is considered essential for job performance. This policy is disclosed at the time of hire, and participation is understood to be part of the employee’s operational responsibilities. While alternative accommodations are available, participation in SMS messaging is the default and preferred method of internal coordination.
4. Opt-Out Protocol
Given the operational nature of these communications, a general opt-out option is not offered. However, Yeastie Boys recognizes that unique circumstances may arise.
Employees who wish to stop receiving SMS messages may request alternative communication methods through their supervisor or HR. Such requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and handled in accordance with labor, accessibility, and safety standards.
5. Data Privacy and Security
Yeastie Boys takes privacy seriously. To ensure safe and responsible communication:
-
No personal mobile numbers are collected, stored, or used for internal messaging under this policy
-
SMS message data is used only for operational efficiency and not for marketing or analytics
-
No employee data is sold, shared with third parties, or used beyond its intended operational purpose
-
Messaging is conducted over secure systems that follow mobile compliance standards
6. Policy Governance
This internal SMS consent policy is reviewed regularly to ensure continued alignment with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and internal operations. Any updates will be published here.
